IGF-1LR3 (Long Arg3 IGF-1) is a recombinant 83-amino acid analog of human IGF-1 carrying an N-terminal 13-residue extension and an Arg3 substitution that disrupts high-affinity binding to IGF-binding proteins. This engineering eliminates IGFBP sequestration, giving the analog 2-3x greater potency than native IGF-1 at the IGF-1 receptor in cell culture. It activates the PI3K/AKT and MAPK/ERK cascades downstream of IGF-1R, making it a high-potency research tool for studying insulin-like growth factor signaling without IGFBP interference.
